The murderers of Kashmiri Pandits and the Kashmiri Pandit leaders in exile, both so far, have escaped the gallows. The former let off by the Indian state and the latter by the Community.
There are many ironies and paradoxes in this cruel story. Having been soaked in the politics of the state for more than four decades, the enormity of the gruesome tragedy has, however , remained like an un-healed wound both in my heart and mind.
While it is true that as a politician and a dyed-wool in ground-politics of the state, I have failed to compel the Indian State to rescue the beleaguered community from the disaster of exile. However, I have only delayed in bringing the Community’s leadership in exile to the gallows.
The entire tribe of KP leadership , from 1990 till date representing any organization, without exception, are responsible for having fooled the displaced community with all kinds of crumbs, the biggest portions being Chandi and Relief.
In fact, by supporting their struggle for these Government sops, all the frontline community organizations have delivered nothing else worth mentioning. All of them have decieved the community by dangling the carrot of ” Return and Rahabilitation on our terms and at our chosen time”.
A section of this leadership has pursued the chimera of ” Homeland” to a delusional level.This fraud is perpetual in the community’s struggle for the last 35 years.
The ubiquitous faces in many organizations are an eyesore now. Their voices irritate the ears. They repeat the same litany of grievances endlessly even as most of the community members, by now know that doing so, they are only keeping their shops open without any merchandise to bail out the community from its befallen tragedy.
The anguish of this calamity has at last scratched the raw wound of my conscience as to place before the community the real face of these pretenders .
Few in the community would know that main three separatist leadership voices, Geelani, Fai and Kathwari are related to each other. Many leaders from our leadership have enjoyed their hospitality and have been in hidden dialogue with them at several stages of the community’s struggle in exile.
One of the above three named sparatist leader has recently come on record to pen- portray the account of his meeting with a well known community leader advocating a separate homeland for the community. However, our own community leader has remained tight- lipped to confirm or deny the separatist leader’s claim.
This raises doubts, if the leader ever hobnobed with this fallen villain. Nor has this leader ever told about the intention, outcome and the reasons for such proximity with the community’s tormentor.
The whispers of several leaders of the community having enjoyed the hospitality of the separatists abroad are not completely unfounded. At home, these leaders dubiously gave an impression that they were pleading for our civil and human rights in international forums.
Never ever did they come clean who hosted them and what privileges and hospitality they enjoyed without achieving anything worth for the exiled community.
The truth is all of them fell prey to the bait of petty considerations offered by separatists .
These names are well known, well recorded and in public domain. Only their faces remain hidden from the community. A few among them have occupied high offices in academia and Government.
Accessible public records provide their complete identity and full details of their deliberations in these anti- national conclaves.
Regrettably, those who participated in these meetings in the name of protecting the community interests have kept the community in dark about their participation, partly to keep the public positions they occupied safe and partly to avoid accountability before the community. Both ways, they fornicated and yet have remained stain-free
They never took the community into confidence about the outcome of these secret parleys.
It is also known that some of these leaders also hobnobed with US political establishment to pressurise the Indian Government to strike a deal with the separatists and accommodate the community’s rehabilitation some how.
In these deals they, without the community’s mandate, acted like moles and double agents while fooling the community that they are its saviours.
They never disclosed their moves or their outcome fearing loss of gratis they enjoyed in the form of free hospitality and foreign travel .
However, since then much water has flown down the Veyth even as the community remains at the crossroads of a bleak and uncertain future.
The community seeks answers to these intruigs. These handlers of the community’s destiny must voluntarily come out with details of the roles each played in the community’s nightmare of 35 years.
It is still time for them to come clean and make the confessions. Not all among them are dead. The living must plead guilty for a pardon.
Should they, however , avoid to come clean or hide behind pretexts, they ought make no mistake to know what awaits an ostrich that digs its neck in the sand to avoid the hunter.
The gallows are ready. The necks are identified. The hangman is on its way. What remains is to pick the first neck. Who and When is matter of time. Justice will prevail.
